Mini/Junior
Welcome to Hull Ionians.
New to Hull Ionians or want to find out more?
Hull Ionians runs mini and junior teams at each age group from under 7s through to 16s and then on to our successful Academy and senior club rugby.
Each age group has a coach and manager. We encourage parents and guardians to join in and help. There is also an active social calendar for players and parents/guardians. On our club notice board and on our website you will find the fixture list for all the age groups. You will also find a sheet called Committee Members where the names and contact details of the coaches and managers for each age group may be found, should you have any questions.
If you are new to the club and want to find out more, please contact your respective age group manager. If you are arriving at a training session and are not sure what to do, just make your way to the pitch for your age group and introduce yourself to the coach or manager…… If all fails, just ask someone – we’re a friendly bunch!
The mini/juniors meet every Sunday at 10:30 for training or games.
Enjoy your rugby at Hull Ionians. Tony Walker & Robin Fox , Joint Mini/Junior Chairmen
HULL IONIANS MINI JUNIOR SUBSCRIPTIONS WILL RISE FOR 2010/11 BUT STILL REPRESENT EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY
Here are just a few of the benefits (aside of the great rugby):-
Professional Rugby Union Activity.
§ Qualified coaching at all levels – The MJ section pays for RFU coaching training for all its coaches.
§ Qualified referees at most games from U14s upwards – Though referees are volunteers, the MJ section does pay for expenses and provides a meal ticket and drink after matches.
Facilities and Equipment:
§ Use of some of the finest rugby pitches in Yorkshire – Our pitches are managed excellently at a cost that needs to be paid for.
§ Floodlights for mid-week games and training used by many teams.
§ Equipment – balls, tags, SAQ equipment, scrum machines, post protectors etc.etc.
§ Use of a club shirt when representing the club.
§ Social membership of the club for up to 2 parents/guardians.
§ Access to the great bars and facilities at Brantingham Park.
§ Use of the changing rooms with shower facilities.
Administrative Matters.
§ Insurance – The MJ section through the senior club pays for insurance to cover the MJ management and coaches as well as providing very basic insurance for players in case of severe injuries.
§ First Aid – The MJ section requires that all age groups have at least one person who has undergone basic first aid. These courses are paid for by the MJ section.
§ Safeguarding and Child Protection – All MJ section managers and coaches are CRB checked and every team has at least one person who has undergone Safeguarding training.
§ Your club is one of the best organised in Yorkshire. Though this is largely due to the efforts of volunteers there are various admin costs that have to be paid for.
Social and other benefits:
§ A post match meal at nearly all away games – It is a tradition in our game that host clubs provide post match meals for visiting teams. In the same way that our players receive meals when playing away, our MJ section provides meals for all visiting players.
§ A Christmas party for U12s and below – With disco, entertainment, selection boxes and, of course, Father Christmas.
§ Annual presentation awards by the MJ section with at least 2 awards per age group and access to a professional photographer.
At less than £2 per week, Hull Ionians’ fees are lower than most other rugby clubs and much lower than other sports such as football, gymnastics, hockey, swimming – Great value for money!
